Does joining the CBUAE Regulatory Sandbox mean I am licensed?

No. A regulatory sandbox is a supervised testing pathway, not a substitute for the licence or authorisation required for unrestricted commercial operation after testing.

Sandbox admission can allow an approved experiment under defined controls and conditions. It does not create a general permission to provide every regulated service or to scale beyond the approved test.

Plan the post-sandbox authorisation path at the same time as the test so the business does not confuse successful experimentation with production licensing.

Regulator: Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE)

Primary sources: CBUAE — FinTech and Innovation

Directional — not legal advice. Verify with the regulator before committing.
